Continuous Improvement of QAD's LEAN MANUFACTURING

posted Sep 18, 2013, 7:44 PM by Fred Jeter   [ updated Sep 18, 2013, 7:45 PM ]

We have improved on QAD's LEAN MANUFACTURING in two ways:

1. We offer a KANBAN CARD with a bar-coded KANBAN# & "unified" KANBAN Activity data collection screen

2. We also offer KANBAN INTELLIGENCE information that help you manage QAD's LEAN Module.

Stop by our booth at MWUG in Grand Rapids to see what we offer & discuss what you'd like to see in QAD LEAN.

Combining Wireless Warehousing & Wireless Transactions helps you get the most out of your Operations using wireless terminals. We presented the attached "Bar-Coded Wireless Warehousing" at a recent South East QAD User Group to help attendees better understand how they can save at least half of their Operations cost.

BEST PRACTICES: Automated Data Collection

posted Jan 31, 2011, 12:22 PM by Fred Jeter   [ updated Nov 2, 2011, 10:57 AM ]

Over the years that we have been delivering bar-coding and RFID solutions to manufacturers, we have polished and refined the underlying principles that we practice. As we continuously improve our RF/BAR bar-coding and RFID products, we have documented our best practices and we pass them on to our customers. The more our customers understand about automating data collection, the better our solutions for each specific customer become. If you have any questions that we can answer concerning our Best Practices, please feel free to ask us via Twitter -- @RFBar1.

Early Lesson in Lean Manufacturing

Here's a story about the awesome sweep through USA manufacturing by Just In Time & Lean many years ago, while I was a project manager at Tektronix, Inc..

It was eye-opening to participate in the changeover to product-centric from production-centric manufacturing.

RF/BAR RFID: Radio Frequency IDentification

posted Dec 6, 2010, 9:49 PM by Fred Jeter   [ updated Nov 12, 2011, 1:48 PM ]

RF/BAR's RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) Dot.Net Applications provide hands-free ways that manufacturers & distributors perform Inventory & Production Activity transactions. RF/BAR offers a Fork-Lift-mounted RFID application, consisting of reading one inventory item being moved by the fork-lift. Inventory Transfers, Purchase Order Receipts, Sales Order Picks, and Inventory Counts can be performed.

The beauty of RFID is that the fork-lift operators do NOT have to stop their work, pick up a bar-code reader, and perform a transaction. All they have to do is pick up an Inventory Item, choose the Type of transaction on the Touch-Screen, and finish the Activity at the Destination Location (with near 100% accuracy and no wasted time.)
